The synagogue, built in the 17th century owes its name to the fact that the funds for its construction came from the municipal cash contributions, kupa in Hebrew.
The building has been erected in the Baroque style and the most interesting element of decorations are polychromes showing Biblical scenes and star signs associated with the traditional Jewish division of the ritual year into months. In the postwar period, in the Kupa Synagogue, the Krakow pogrom took place (11 August 1945). After renovation, which was carried out in 2001, services are conducted here, it also serves as a venue for concerts and exhibitions.
